A brief history of the Land Cruiser

The Land Cruiser began manufacturing back in 1951 and has been in constant production since. It started life as a vehicle that looked not so dissimilar to a Jeep to help with the Korean War in the same year. The second generation in 1955 was the beginning of the change into broadening the appeal to civilians by adding more stylish bodywork, interior comfort and seats.

It remained in this state until 1984 when the body of the Land Cruiser was changed to a soft/hard top utility cab truck. The ride was softened and once again the emphasis was directed towards civilian life. Fast forward to 1990 and you can start to see the Land Cruiser resemble what it is today - an SUV.

The Land Cruiser in its modern guide has been around since 2007 and now a proper SUV but with 4x4 capabilities. It rarely gets upgrades as it has not really changed for 13 years - Toyota’s emphasis is not on luxury or economy but toughness and reliability. Very few pickup trucks or SUVs can rival the Land Cruiser in terms of raw performance and toughness which is why it has become so popular with construction industries in the UK.

Is the Land Cruiser a good commercial vehicle to lease?

You aren’t going to be rocked by the interior quality or comfort, let’s be honest. But what you’ll get is a tough chassis able to take anything you through at it and still keep working day in day out for you. If you need a vehicle which needs to be thrown about then this is the one for you.
