A brief history of the Combo

The Vauxhall Combo started life as the Kadett Combo back in 1986 and built on our shores over in Ellesmere port. However, it was labelled as the Astra van or Bedford over here. It wasn’t until 1993 there was an official British ‘Combo’ on the market which was essentially a modified Corsa with a panel van extension in the back.

Vauxhall once again used the Corsa as a platform when the Combo entered its third generation in 2001 but with it came a flush bodystyle to differentiate it from the Corsa to look like an all one piece van. Sliding rear doors and a much larger capacity panel rear also came with it which really helped the Combo’s popularity.

In 2011, Vauxhall released the third generation and the first-ever Combo which was not based on a passenger vehicle, instead it was based on the Fiat Doblo and many would argue this is the first Combo could be called a true van. This was the beginning of a very successful period of sales as it was one of the most affordable panel vans at the time.

The fourth-generation Combo became an International Van of the Year winner.

Is the Vauxhall Combo a good van to lease?

The Vauxhall Combo is a multi-award-winning van with one of the lowest price points of a panel cargo van in the market. With a payload of up to 1000kg, load length of 1781mm to 2131mm and all the latest tech from sat nav to parking assist the Combo van will serve any business very well.
